The integration of these modalities with the 12-Steps creates an opportunity for those, who want to change, an opportunity to find the gift of long-term sobriety.
Addiction treatment and the 12-Steps lay the foundation of recovery. It is working the Steps that builds the structure. Depending on the commitment to the program and to the steps, the house is either a sturdy structure or one of sticks! People don’t get better through osmosis. When you come to Recovery Works you will need to work hard, have an open mind and be ready to make changes. It is often said that “Willingness is when the pain of life is greater than the fear of change.”
The Steps are a program of living; a program for life. The program will stay with you long after you leave the safe and friendly confines of Recovery Works. Alcohol and drug treatment is about discovery, the steps are about recovery!

DRUG AND ALCOHOL REHAB
Alcohol and drug addiction becomes an all-consuming factor for an individual. Families, employment and basic living are all strained by addiction. When the body has developed a dependency to alcohol or other drugs it isn’t recommended to stop “cold turkey.” Withdrawal effects can be life threatening especially with alcohol and benzodiazapines. In severe cases, where there is physiological dependence, proper medical detoxification is needed to effectively avoid life threatening withdrawal seizures.
OPTIONAL MEDICAL DETOX PROGRAM
Alcohol and other drug detoxification is often times recommended at the beginning or before treatment. When an addict stops drinking or taking certain drugs they can be faced with physical withdrawal.
Detox is a process to monitor and stabilize a person to make this time more manageable. Medically qualified staff are available around-the-clock to meet and address the addicted individual’s withdrawal needs.
Withdrawal Symptoms can vary but can include:
- Rapid heart rate, heart complications
- Delirium (The DT’s)
Medical withdrawal provides care in different ways including:
- The management of acute withdrawal symptoms including the prevention of seizures that can be life threatening
- Receiving prescribed medications that lessen the impact of withdrawal and suppresses craving
- Ensures the individual is stabilized physically and able to undertake alcohol treatment programming.
